Denise King provides a service in Family and De Facto Law within the jurisdiction of the Family and Federal Magistrates Courts in Australia. She also assists clients with Wills, Power of Attorney, Enduring Guardianship and Probate applications.
She is able to advise and represent clients who live locally on the Central Coast of New South Wales and the Newcastle-Hunter Region and Australians who live or are travelling or working overseas.
Overseas clients must be Australian citizens, or have been married or lived in a de facto relationship in Australia. Evidence of this needs to be provided. She has trained as an Independent Children's Lawyer and can act for parents if both parents agree to appoint her.
FAMILY LAW IS COMPLEX: With qualifications in psychology, education, mediation and law, and many years experience in counselling, mediation and family and de facto law, and completion of research for a Master of Laws degree on high conflict children's cases, particularly 'Parental Alienation' with a cross discipline approach (Law and Psychology) in the Family Courts in Australia and internationally, Denise King has the skills, education and experience needed to listen to clients, assess their situation and advise them with compassion and objectivity.
FAMILY LAW IS EMOTIONAL: There are often many conflicts involved when people decide to separate. These conflicts can become worse after separation when each person is trying to re-establish their life without the other partner. Issues regarding children can be even more conflictual. Both parents usually want their children to remain part of their life. New partners and relocation add more issues making changes difficult to adjust to. When there is conflict and high levels of emotion people can make irrational decisions and behave in ways that only worsens the conflict. A combination of counselling by a family psychologist together with the skills Denise King has learned over many years, particularly when children are involved, can make the transition into the new lives after separation eaiser to cope with. It is a learning process that requires new ways of thinking, and the guidance of professionals who have learned how to manage these changes.
Denise King is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales and the Family Law Council of Australia and has articles published on 'Specialists in Family Law' (1999) and 'Internet Mediation' (2000).
She represents clients in the Family and Federal Magistrates Courts in Newcastle and also in Sydney. She can communicate with clients by office consultation, phone calls letters, faxes, emails and Skype.
